About
Quick facts: The museum is housed in the former Liverpool Road station, the oldest surviving passenger railway station in the world. Its Spaceship gallery lets visitors crawl through a model of the Apollo 11 command module and feel the cramped quarters astronauts endured.
Highlights: The museum contains the actual Liverpool Road station facade exactly as it appeared on opening day in 1830, complete with original ticket office windows. Stand on the platform where early passengers boarded trains pulled by the Planet locomotive, the world's first commercially successful steam engine.
